SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 34

Recognizing Kanawha Players on the occasion of its seventy-fifth year as a community theater and requesting the governor to proclaim May 17, 1997, as a day of recognition.

Whereas, Since its inception in the 1920s, Kanawha Players has helped to enrich the lives of many people; and
Whereas, Kanawha Players has the national distinction as being the third oldest community theater in the country; and
Whereas, On May 17, 1997, Kanawha Players will hold its first reunion in celebration of its Diamond Jubilee season. Such notables as President Bill Clinton, Broadway and television actress, Carol Burnette, and filmmaker, Steven Spielberg are just a few of the individuals who have acknowledged the achievement of Kanawha Players on reaching its seventy-fifth year of excellence as a community center for the performing arts; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby extends its appreciation to Kanawha Players for its service to the community by maintaining its standards of excellence, versatility and continuity for the past seventy-five years as a community center for the performing arts; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Senate hereby requests the governor of West Virginia to issue a proclamation proclaiming May 17, 1997, as a day of recognition for Kanawha Players on the occcasion of itstheir seventy-fifth year; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to Kanawha Players and the governor of the state of West Virginia.
